Grounded in the noble motto ‘Not Me But You’, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at Madhab Choudhury College stands as a cornerstone of our institution’s commitment to social responsibility and holistic student development. Functioning under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the NSS unit acts as a bridge between the campus and the community, instilling in our students a sense of social consciousness and democratic leadership. The primary purpose of the NSS is to provide students with a platform to understand the ground realities of rural and urban society, thereby transforming them into empathetic and enlightened citizens. Through its diverse range of activities- from environmental conservation and health awareness to literacy drives and disaster management -- the NSS unit at Madhab Choudhury College empowers volunteers to apply their education to find practical solutions to community problems. By participating in this voluntary program, students not only contribute to the nation’s growth but also undergo a profound personal transformation, gaining invaluable life skills, a spirit of selflessness, and a deep-seated commitment to the welfare of the marginalized sections of society.

31	Observation of National Voters’ Day	The Observation of National Voters’ Day–2026 was organized on 25 January 2026 by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Madhab Choudhury College at the college premises. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of voting and the role of citizens in a democratic system. A total of 32 students actively participated with enthusiasm and a strong sense of civic responsibility. The main activity was the National Voters’ Day Pledge, where students pledged to uphold democratic values, participate responsibly in elections, and encourage others to exercise their voting rights. Various awareness activities were also conducted to educate participants about voters’ rights, duties, and the election process in India. 30	Independence Day Ceremonial Parade	The Independence Day Ceremonial Parade was organized on 15 August 2025 by the Barpeta District Administration at the Municipal Play Ground to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of India. The programme was conducted with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. NSS volunteers from Madhab Choudhury College actively participated in the ceremonial parade. A total of 30 volunteers took part and displayed discipline, unity, and dedication throughout the event. Their synchronized performance and commitment were highly appreciated by the organizers and audience. The NSS Unit of the college secured the 2nd prize in the parade competition, bringing honour and recognition to the institution. 29	Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign	The Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2025 was organized on 12 August 2025 by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Madhab Choudhury College at the college premises. The programme was conducted as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative to promote patriotism and national unity. A total of 60 NSS volunteers actively participated in the campaign. The volunteers encouraged students and local residents to hoist the National Flag at their homes and to understand the importance of respecting national symbols. 28	Volunteer Service at All Assam Drawing Competition	The Volunteer Service at All Assam Drawing Competition – 2025 was organized by UCMAS at St. Teresa’s E.M. School on 15 June 2025 (Sunday). UCMAS is a child development programme that enhances brainpower through visual arithmetic and the abacus, aiming to improve memory, concentration, creativity, problem-solving skills, and mathematical ability among children aged 4 to 13. As part of its awareness campaign, UCMAS hosted the All Assam Drawing Competition 2025 in Howly, Barpeta district. To support the smooth conduct of the event, 30 NSS volunteers from Madhab Choudhury College were assigned volunteer duties. 27	Volunteer Service at Doul Utsav	The Volunteer Service at Doul Utsav – 2025 was organized by Barpeta Satra at its premises from 13 to 16 March 2025. Doul Utsav is one of the most important and colourful festivals of Assam, and it holds special significance for the people of Barpeta. Celebrated with great devotion and joy, the festival attracts a large number of devotees and visitors every year. This year, the celebration was conducted on a grand scale with religious rituals and cultural activities. A total of 11 NSS volunteers from Madhab Choudhury College were assigned to provide volunteer service during the festival. 26	Awareness Programme on "e-Courts"	The Awareness Programme on “e-Courts” was organized on 25 February 2025 by the District Legal Services Authority Barpeta at the District and Sessions Judge Court Complex. The programme aimed to educate participants about the features and benefits of the e-Courts initiative of the Government of India. Resource persons explained how the digital platform improves access to judicial services by allowing citizens to check case status, court orders, and judgments online with real-time updates. The session helped participants understand the importance of technology in ensuring transparency and efficiency in the justice system. 25	Republic Day Ceremonial Parade	The Republic Day Ceremonial Parade was organized on 26 January 2025 by the Barpeta District Administration at the Municipal Play Ground to celebrate the 76th Republic Day of India. The programme was conducted with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. NSS volunteers from Madhab Choudhury College actively participated in the ceremonial parade. A total of 23 volunteers took part and displayed discipline, unity, and dedication throughout the event. Their coordinated performance and commitment were highly appreciated. 24	District Level Yuva Utsav-India@2047.	The District Level Yuva Utsav–India@2047 was held on 8 December 2024 at Madhab Choudhury College. The programme was jointly organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Barpeta, National Service Scheme (NSS) of the college, and Barpeta District Administration, and was financed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The main aim of the programme was to strengthen the talents and abilities of the youth of Barpeta district. Various competitions such as Photography, Young Artist, Declamation, Young Writer, Folk Group Dance, and Science Mela (Group and Individual) were organized to select participants for the state-level event. 23	District Level Career Counselling Programme	The District Level Career Counselling Programme was organized on 14 November 2024 by the Skill Employment and Entrepreneurship Department in collaboration with the District Employment Exchange Barpeta at the District Library. The programme was financed by the Government of Assam. Its main objective was to provide students with clear guidance on career opportunities, skill development, and professional growth. Experts shared useful information about different job sectors, higher studies, and self-employment options. A total of 45 NSS volunteers from Madhab Choudhury College actively participated in the event. 22	Pre-Rd Selection Camp	The Pre-RD Selection Camp was organized on 18 September 2024 by the Gauhati University NSS Cell at Gauhati University and was financed by the Government of India. The main objective of the camp was to select dedicated NSS volunteers for the Pre-Republic Day selection process. Volunteers chosen from this camp will get the opportunity to participate in the Republic Day programme to be held on 26 January 2025 in New Delhi. 20	Har Ghar Tiranga	The programme Har Ghar Tiranga was organized on 13 August 2024 by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Madhab Choudhury College at the college premises in Barpeta. 19	International Day of Yoga	A Two Days Workshop on Yoga was organized on 20th and 21st June 2024 at Madhab Choudhury College, Barpeta on the occasion of International Day of Yoga. The programme was conducted by the IQAC, Madhab Choudhury College, Barpeta in collaboration with the NSS Unit, Madhab Choudhury College, Barpeta. The workshop aimed to promote awareness about the importance of yoga for physical fitness and mental well-being. Students of the college actively participated in the programme with great enthusiasm. During the two days, trained instructors demonstrated various yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques, explaining their benefits in simple terms. The sessions encouraged students to adopt yoga as a part of their daily routine for a healthy and balanced life. 18	North East NSS Festival, Meghalaya	The North East NSS Festival, Meghalaya was organized by the State NSS Cell, Meghalaya from 29 April to 3 May 2024 at Jaintia Eastern College. The programme was financed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Nupur Das and Ankita Das, NSS volunteers from Madhab Choudhury College, represented the Assam contingent at this regional event. The main aim of the festival was to develop leadership qualities among NSS volunteers and to encourage cultural exchange among participants from different North Eastern states.
