Madhab Choudhury College

Madhab Choudhury College, Barpeta provides a range of sports and physical activity facilities to encourage students’ active participation in games and athletics. The college has a spacious playground used for outdoor sports such as football, cricket, volleyball, and athletics. Indoor games like badminton, table tennis, chess, and carrom are also promoted among students to ensure balanced physical and mental development.

The college regularly organizes sports events, training programmes, and annual College Week/Sports Week to motivate students to participate in different sporting activities. Students who perform well in these events are encouraged to represent the college in various inter-college and university-level tournaments. These initiatives help promote physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and overall personality development among students.

The sports activities of the college are supervised by the Sports Instructor, Smt. Dharitri Das, who provides training and guidance to students for participation in different competitions. She has represented Assam six times in national volleyball events and once in athletics.

Sports-related activities of the college are managed by a dedicated committee comprising Dr. Prakash Sarma (Principal) – Chairman, Dharitee Teron (Assistant Professor) – Convenor, Dharitri Das – Instructor, Dr. Jaydev Mandal – Member, and Dr. Nur Hussain – Member.

• Madhusmita Bayan won Gold Medals in the Tong-Il-Moo-Do Championships held in Nashik (Maharashtra), Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh), and Kurukshetra (Haryana).
• Ranjan Bikash Das was selected for the Assam Under-19 Cricket Team in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
• Sagarika Das represented Assam in the 66th National School Games.
• Janmoni Das won a Gold Medal in the Assam Kyokushin Cup Open Full Contact Karate National Event, 2023.
• The college Under-20 boys’ football team reached the quarterfinals of the Mavir Lachit Inter-District Football Event.
• Ranjan Bikash Das, Bishnudev Das, and Krishnamani Das represented Bhattadev University, Bajali, in the Inter-Varsity Cricket Tournament organized by the Assam Cricket Association in Dibrugarh in 2025, where Ranjan Bikash Das received the Player of the Match award in one match.
• Ranjan Bikash Das was also selected by the Assam Cricket Association for the U-19 C.B. Trophy held in Bengal, Goa, and Chandigarh.
• The college boys’ volleyball team became runners-up in the Inter-District Volleyball Tournament held at Barpeta B.T. College on 3 February 2026.
• The Girls’ Kabaddi Team and Boys’ Volleyball Team became runners-up in the District Level Sports Meet organized by Mera Yuva Bharat, Barpeta under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India on 28 February 2026.
