The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Madhab Choudhury College, Barpeta was constituted on 5 February 2020 in accordance with the guidelines of the UGC, NAAC, and the Supreme Court to ensure a safe, healthy, and congenial environment for faculty members, students, and office staff. It is a statutory body established to address and resolve complaints related to sexual harassment within the institution. The committee functions under the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, which requires every workplace, including educational institutions, to maintain a safe and respectful environment for women.
The ICC of Madhab Choudhury College is responsible for receiving complaints, conducting inquiries, and recommending appropriate action in cases of sexual harassment involving students, faculty members, or staff. The committee is composed of a Presiding Officer, faculty representatives, administrative members, and an external member from an NGO or an organization working for women’s rights to ensure fairness and impartiality in the inquiry process.
The main objectives of the ICC are to prevent incidents of sexual harassment, promote gender sensitivity on campus, maintain confidentiality during investigations, and provide a fair and transparent grievance redressal mechanism. Through timely and effective handling of complaints, the ICC helps maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful academic environment for all members of the college community.
