Women Cell

Profile

The Women Cell of Madhab Choudhury College has been established to promote gender equity and to encourage progressive attitudes toward gender roles and social behaviour. The Cell works to create a safe, inclusive, and discrimination-free academic environment for all, irrespective of gender, caste, religion, disability, socio-economic background, or any other identity.

The Cell regularly organizes gender sensitization programmes and awareness activities among students to promote mutual respect, dignity, and equality. The institution has taken proactive steps to ensure gender justice and to build a supportive atmosphere where every individual can access opportunities for personal, social, psychological, and physical development. The college also encourages participation and leadership in sports and other co-curricular activities for all genders.

The Women Cell functions under the convenorship of Dr. Rameeza Hasan, Head, Department of Anthropology, who actively guides and coordinates the initiatives of the Cell.

In collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the Women Cell has assessed the gender-sensitive initiatives of the institution, which highlight the following facilities and measures:

• Separate sanitation facilities for male and female students and staff are available in the common areas of the college.
• Separate common room facilities are provided for both male and female students to ensure comfort and privacy.
• Installation of CCTV cameras at important locations on the campus to enhance safety and security of students and staff.
• Organization of awareness programmes, workshops, and counselling sessions on issues such as gender equality, women’s health, and legal rights.
