About Library

The Central Library of Madhab Choudhury College is named as Kameswar Das Library. With a Carpet area of 6000 sq. Ft., Kameswar Das Library is a well-equipped, modern library with more than 60 thousand books that includes text books, reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries and rare books. Different types of periodicals and research journals are also available in the library. The service of the library is divided into four sections, namely Book Bank, the Reference/Lending section, Digital-Library section and Reading room.
The library follows Open Access System. Regarding reprographic service, photocopy machine, type writer and printers are made available in the library. Network version of the SOUL-2.0 has been installed in the library. There is a Book Bank in the library. Meritorious students are allowed to take two copies of books for one month from book bank. They are also allowed to renew those books for another two months. Internet Service has been introduced and it can be availed both by students and teachers of the college. Four computers are used for this purpose. OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) service has been introduced in the library. Readers can access books through this service. Two Computers have been installed in the entrance of the library for this purpose.
For the convenience of the students, the library regularly organizes Orientation Programme in each academic year. All the important decisions of the library are taken by the Library Committee where students are also made involved.

FACILITIES OF THE LIBRARY

1. OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) service has been introduced in the library.
2. Readers can access book through Open Access System.
3. Separate reading rooms for teachers and students.
4. The library facilitates INFLIBNET.
5. In-house access to e-resources.
6. Inter Library Loans (If demanded by the students).
7. Compact Discs with academic content on subjects like environment, recent discoveries of Science etc. for students.
8. Reprography Service.
9. Downloads.
10. Ready reference
11. Colour TV to facilitate students to watch U.G.C. programmes.

INTERNET FACILITY

The college campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Kameswar Das Library also has internet facility (LAN & Wi-Fi). Students can avail this facility free of cost during working hours.

BOOK BANK

Kameswar Das Library has a ‘Book Bank’, from which books are given to regular students belonging to the following categories:
1. The H.S. 1st year students who secured 80% of marks in the H.S.L.C. Examination.
2. The H.S. 2nd year students who secured ‘A’ grade in the H.S. first year Examination.
3. Two meritorious students of each Honours and Regular-course in Degree 1st, 2nd and 3rd year classes, on the basis of the result of the last examination.
4. Students belonging to ST, SC and OBC, who secured 55% of marks in the last examination.

CONDITIONS FOR BORROWING BOOKS

1. The students studying in the different classes of the college are entitled to borrow three copies of books at a time for use at home for 15 days. Borrowed books may be re-issued if required for a longer time and if not wanted by another reader.
2. The members of the teaching staff are entitled to take out ten volumes at a time for a month.
3. The staff of the library, office and laboratory are entitled to two books at a time for a month.
4. Under special circumstances, the persons enumerated above may with the sanction of the Principal/Librarian, take out more than the prescribed number of volumes.
5. No other person is allowed to take out books from the library.
6. A book of which there is only one copy in the library is not issued.
